Juan Ponce Enrile when he was Defense Minister in 1984, and while planning the coup that would later be the 1986 EDSA revolution, bought 500 GALIL rifles. he bought it directly from his own bank account. not to raise suspicion he gave 250 to the military and the other 250 he gave to his "private security group" which would later be known as RAM. the question is that where did Enrile's stash go? still with the RAM boys?
an interesting thing is that a month or two before the July Oakwood Mutiny by the Magdalo group, there was an aborted sale of (600-800?) SOKOR K-1 and K-2 rifles and carbines. the individual who paid for it was unnamed but the contract had the forged signature of then-Defense Secretry Angelo Reyes. the military was tipped off about the sale and aborted it.
