This morning after I have taken some photos in the 14th Philippine International Hotair Balloon Fiesta, I decided to go home via the Clark's  Mabalacat Gate, however I missed turning on the right street corner so I end up in the vicinity of Marcos Village (Aeta-Baluga home) and the Centennial Expo.

These were the present photos of the Centennial Expo.

On the area behind the Clark's perimeter fence is the home of the Aeta - Baluga.

The home of our cultural minorities, the Aetas. Here in Pampanga they called Aeta
as Baluga.

The road on this area leads to Sacovia area and also the road leading to
SCTEX North Clark Interchange.

Read the story of CENTENNIAL EXPO, a white elephant

THE LARGEST amphitheater in Asia, with a seating capacity of 35,000, stands virtually unused in the middle of what used to be barren, lahar-filled land inside the Clark Special Economic Zone.

This gargantuan structure, which cost P1.2 billion to build, is called the Freedom Ring and was intended as the centerpiece of the 60-hectare Philippine Centennial Exposition.

How it got built is a story of grand plans gone wrong, made worse by poor government planning, unbridled ambition and the symbiotic relationship between contractors and public officials.

Today, one year after the centennial celebrations, the Freedom Ring is a white elephant whose long-term benefits to the local economy are as hazy as the procedures that were followed to build it.

Envisioned to symbolize “freedom and the Philippine spirit,” it is instead a monument to the power of a president to mobilize massive government resources for a project with little tangible returns.

Our investigation shows that the Freedom Ring was built by systematically shortcutting government procedures and with high officials led by former president Fidel V. Ramos and National Centennial Commission (NCC) chief Salvador Laurel irrationally insisting on the grand project even if it could not be fully funded. Although we did not uncover hard evidence of commissions or bribes being paid to these officials, the project is nonetheless reminiscent of the extravagance of the Marcos era.

That site , ironically, used to be called the "Elephant Cage" when the americans were there.  It's a secure communication facility were the guards are authorized to use deadly force.

Very sad, a few aircraft left in the PAF and still unable to maintain. Wow!

Guys, look at the pictures of S-211's lined up in the tarmac. That's reality for you. shock - mil

Balloon festival kicks off CLARK FREEPORT—Twenty-four giant hot-air balloons from 12 countries were flown into the Philippines to join this year’s Hot Air Balloon Festival, which kicked-off yesterday at the Air Force Ramp here.

Close to 20,000 local and foreign spectators watched as the balloons soared from the ramp, where organizers had set up booths and allowed kite-flying, paragliding, and remote-controlled plane-flying contests.

The balloons came in various sizes and shapes including a telephone booth, a coffee mug and a tiger.

Ronaldo Tiotico, the Tourism Department’s director for Central Luzon, said more than 150 enthusiasts from Switzerland, New Zealand, Finland, England, Japan, the United States and other countries were participating in the festival.

He said the event was expected to bring in P1.5 million from sales, services and gate receipts compared with P1.2 million last year, adding gate receipts were already close to the P1-million mark. Albert Lacanlale

Nice display,  But the Hot Air balloon festival will never be the same without the roar of PAF jet engines.   Sad

hahaha, they should have changed the name into hot air defense show... i had a hard time finding someone willing to go to a "hot air baloon fiesta", i finally convinced two guys by saying, "by the way, have i told you there's gonna be guns and APC's there"...  all they could say was... "Lets Go" ahaha Laughing
