It would still be awhile if this would happen.  USN is short of warships, as the LCS project falters in cost and schedule.

OT -- Would be best is to lobby for the US Coast Guard cutters.  Although they are older, they seemed best suited for us.  We already have a couple of Point class...

OT2x -- why didn't we go for the recently retired Singapore FACs or the Australian PBs?
Obsolete weapons do not deter. You do not base a defence policy on someone else's good intentions.

Photos from Flickr : ShackieShark  (uploaded Nov 28, 2008)

According to the account owner -- taken at Fort San Felipe docks, Cavite

BRP Gen. Mariano Alvarez, dock along side with BRP Ilo-ilo.  At its stern is a JCPV.  At the other side of the pier are a couple of PCEs.

Here's the tail end of one of the white ships I was asking about in the AY-72 thread http://www.timawa.net/forum/index.php?topic=17795.msg165445#msg165445 and there's another white ship opposite the JCPV that also doesn't look like the AT-25.  Are these CG ships or Auxiliary Transport ships of the PN?

Interesting shade of gray for the PS-38.  It seems to be lighter than the gray of the PCE.  Is this USN gray as opposed to PN gray?

Its hard to tell because of the lack of a date stamp on the PDF.

A large number of PN assets have already been disposed of, so it is possible that the PS-38 refit discussed here was the initial refit that happened before it was transferred to the PN.

An interesting info...

the Cyclone class is a modified design from Vosper Thorneycroft of England who built the first modern warships for the Philippines before WW2. The Thorneycroft company built the Philippine Commonwealth's Off-Shore Patrols 40 knot torpedo "Q" boats. These were the Coast Motor Boat (CMB) 55 foot and 65 foot designs.

Navy to deploy Cyclone boat in Western Mindanao
Friday, April 16, 2010

http://www.sunstar.com.ph/zamboanga/navy-deploy-cyclone-boat-western-mindanao

THE Philippine Navy is deploying a high-tech Cyclone boat to Western Mindanao, a top official said.

Rear Admiral Alexander Pama, Naval Forces Western Mindanao Command (NFWM) chief, said the Cyclone boat will be placed under the command of the NFWM.

Pama said the deployment of the new boat was announced by Vice Admiral Ferdinand Golez, Philippine Navy Flag-officer-in-command (FOIC), who was in Zamboanga City Thursday.

Golez graced Thursday the Western Mindanao Maritime Security Forum in the city.

Pama said the Cyclone boat is fully equipped with sensor and armaments for peacekeeping and maritime operations.

He said the deployment will further boost the capability of his command in as far as security operations are concerned.

The Philippine Navy earlier deployed two Multi-Purpose Attack Crafts (MPAC) to Pama's command.
